I recently posted about how I’ve changed my Thanksgiving/holiday shopping habits.
I used to be a Black Friday babe and I would brave the crowds with my family and friends as a sort of fun bonding activity to get things I really didn’t need, wait in line forever and freeze my butt off. As I got older I realized that the stress of the shopping season was really affecting me and so I moved to this concept of thinking about the people I love all year round and if I come across something that they would like, I buy it for them and store it in a specific container in my closet and then I wrap it during the month of December. Then I also have the whole year to wait for sales, thrift or have time to hand-make my gifts instead of feeling obliged to buy whatever garbage I can find because Christmas is right around the corner. This way has really helped me to stop spending so much and squash the feeling that there is a countdown to find the “right thing” for every person I know. Now I just light candles, put on some cheery music and think about all the people I care about as I wrap their gift. I do still partake in some Cyber Monday and online Black Friday deals, but usually on things for myself that I have been waiting to buy. I have a few sites in particular that I’m hoping will have some killer deals because I have my eye on particular things from them.
Here is my list of brands you will find me shopping next week while in my PJs, sipping coco, from the comfort of my bed!
Lev Apparel
An ethical clothing company right here in Madison that was co-founded by one of my lovely friends Krystal Marks! Lev has beautifully well-made staple items that are made to fit and flatter real women. I am a size L or XL in most of their garments and I usually wear a size 14/16 in most brands. Their “Baldwin” T-shirts are super comfy and perfect for layering or lounging! I have my eye on one in their new Jet Black color!!
Swedish Stockings
My friend Lauren of The Sustainable Stylist gets the CUTEST stuff from Swedish Stockings and I really want to place my first order with them. I LOVE cute knee-highs and warm tights that don’t cut off circulation. I need to replace a few stockings that I have worn out, so I hope to find some cute stuff on their site for Cyber Monday!
Savage X Fenty
I recently got to work with Savage X Fenty on a strapless bra campaign and I was surprised by how much I loved the set they sent me. This post is not sponsored by them at all – I just really had a great experience and want to buy some more sets to heat up this cold winter ;). I’m sure they will have some crazy deal that you better believe I’m going to get in on.
Cire Alexandria
This baby makes some of my favorite jewelry pieces that I own. I wear one of her rings almost every day and her new collection launches today 11/22! It usually sells fast so I hope I can get my hands on another pretty gem!
Anthropologie
I mean do I even have to explain? So much cute stuff AND now they fully carry PLUS?! I’ve wanted to buy a few pairs of their plus-size collab jeans with DL1961 x Marianna Hewitt. I tried them on at the launch party I hosted with them last month and they fit like MAGIC.
Daysy Fertility Tracker
I’ve been off of birth control for almost three years and don’t think I will ever go back. Since I don’t want children currently – I chart my cycle on an app. But my dream situation is to use a Daysy Fertility Tracker. These little babies are expensive but are SO AMAZING and have tons of science behind telling you exactly when you are fertile or not in a super non-invasive way. I saw they had a Cyber Monday coupon last year, but I missed it. I’ve been waiting in anticipation since then that they will do something again this year!
Cosmetic Love
I am literally obsessed with Peripera lip tints. I have given away almost all my other lipsticks and use PeriPera almost 100% of the time. It’s hard to find them online at a reasonable price because they need to be imported, but I recently found the Korean beauty site Cosmetic Love that carries a bunch of Peripera products. Shipping can be up to $25 which is steep – but the cost of each item can be up to 75% less than on other sites that I’ve found AND they have a better selection! I so hope they have a Cyber Monday coupon cause I will clear them out!
ModCloth
So many quirky retro-inspired pieces – it’s hard for me to choose! I love how size-inclusive ModCloth is – basically everything you see is going to be in both straight and plus sizes. None of this – the plus version looks different with extra coverage and only in black garbage. They also have some super great collection collabs that I’m hoping I can snag some deals on!
Chic Soul
I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Chic Soul to showcase some of their sweet Black Friday deals! I’ll be giving you a sneak peek on social soon, but I’ve honestly had such awesome communication with them and I LOVE how cute their site is. They carry size 10-22 and focus on both basics and more trendier items that can be harder to find in plus sizes. You can tell they think about selling things that are fashionable, but also will be comfortable and that is something I can get behind!
BONUS SITE:
Etsy
They sent me a coupon to shop with them this season and while checking out the site I forgot how many pretty things and great gift ideas they have. Many sellers have amazing holiday deals already happening and I am sure more will be added as we near the end of November. I want to get some little personalized rings and there are SO MANY options. I’m pretty sure that’s what my coupon will go towards!
